I came to John with a crazy idea of a clean early-60’s American type of circuit, inside of a hot-pink British chassis. John knew what to do right away, and made it happen. My Metz stack provides me with the perfect amount of power, clarity, and harmonics that can only be found in vintage amps with a 6-figure price tag. I now own two Metz amps, and they very quickly became a crucial part of my sound. John is an absolute genius that makes dreams come true every single day!

I have never been so moved by an amplifier!  John Metz is doing something really spectacular.  Today in a world filled with clones of all the amps that have been around forever, it’s hard to get something that’s unique without being weird or unusable.  To me, Metz amps are inspired by the wonderful classic tones we all know and love with true improvements and a unique twist.  John is not making changes just to be unique, but to constantly make real musical improvements. He has cultivated something that is improved and original on tones that are very familiar!

There are many quality amps on the market today but very few can move you to inspiration with just the pure joy of tone and feel. The jumble 18 is just that. Such a quality amp with some cool features that allow you to shape and sculpt the amp, from modern Blues tones to Hard Rock bliss. I love the “pick attack” and bite with this amp. It’s punchy with that British type of gain that really stands out in the mix. Hand-built and meticulously Hand wired, made in the USA, and it just looks cool!! Don’t let the 18 watts fool you, this amp can be a very loud!

You built a bones for me a couple of years ago… I’ve recently had a Metz jumble 18 built for me and I just wanted to thank you, if not for you I wouldn’t have known about it….. I love it. I first heard Metz amps at a live show. I was immediately impressed with the tone and singing sustain. I knew I needed to have one. John built a version of his Goldi-Rocks amp, with a few special requests from me. The amp has a beautiful, organic, touch-sensitive quality. It’s both very revealing and sweet sounding. Beautiful cleans and aggressive overdrive with enough EQ options to tweak for days. John is quite a talented designer/builder, player and all around solid guy.

Whether I’m trying to write a great song or play a great solo, I’m always looking to the past for inspiration and try to build on the shoulders of giants and in the five decades I’ve spent tone questing, I’ve done the same thing; drawing inspiration from great amps and great builders.
