I have never been so moved by an amplifier! John Metz is doing something really spectacular. Today in a world filled with clones of all the amps that have been around forever, it’s hard to get something that’s unique without being weird or unusable. To me, Metz amps are inspired by the wonderful classic tones we all know and love with true improvements and a unique twist. John is not making changes just to be unique, but to constantly make real musical improvements. He has cultivated something that is improved and original on tones that are very familiar!
Metz amplification is doing exactly what the amp wizards of the 50s and 60s we’re doing, using curiosity to test and create a product that is purely musical! No gimmicks. As a result, John has created hands down the best sounding, and most inspiring (and best looking) guitar amps I’ve ever played.
There are many quality amps on the market today but very few can move you to inspiration with just the pure joy of tone and feel. The jumble 18 is just that. Such a quality amp with some cool features that allow you to shape and sculpt the amp, from modern Blues tones to Hard Rock bliss. I love the “pick attack” and bite with this amp. It’s punchy with that British type of gain that really stands out in the mix. Hand-built and meticulously Hand wired, made in the USA, and it just looks cool!! Don’t let the 18 watts fool you, this amp can be a very loud!
Hey John just wanted to thank you again for doing an outstanding job in building and setting this amp up the sound is awesome and I appreciate all your help! Metz amplification exceeds all expectations!
Talking tone with my friend the one and only George Lynch I asked “what is your must own” amp you have recently encountered. George’s response was the “Metz” aka the The Jumble 18. I was sold and placed my order, the whole process was amazing the passion that John creates these amps with is inspiring on its own. These amps are harmonically complex with a beautiful balance of gain, sustain and articulation. A true work of art that has inspired my tonal awareness and playing to new heights. Thank you George & John.
You built a bones for me a couple of years ago… I’ve recently had a Metz jumble 18 built for me and I just wanted to thank you, if not for you I wouldn’t have known about it….. I love it. Before it, I was in love with my other high-end boutique amplifier that shall remain nameless, now I love my Metz….. And John is great, thanks again…. Love and respect always, cheers.
I first heard Metz amps at a live show. I was immediately impressed with the tone and singing sustain. I knew I needed to have one. John built a version of his Goldi-Rocks amp, with a few special requests from me. The amp has a beautiful, organic, touch-sensitive quality. It’s both very revealing and sweet sounding. Beautiful cleans and aggressive overdrive with enough EQ options to tweak for days. John is quite a talented designer/builder, player and all around solid guy.
His work has been featured on major TV, film, and radio, including Jesus Walks, 2005 Grammy, Best Rap Song by Kanye West.
Whether I’m trying to write a great song or play a great solo, I’m always looking to the past for inspiration and try to build on the shoulders of giants and in the five decades I’ve spent tone questing, I’ve done the same thing; drawing inspiration from great amps and great builders. Enter John Metz and his line of incredibly inspiring tone machines.
To my ears, Metz amps embody the best tonal characteristics of the great amps of the rock ‘n’ roll era but with a unique sound all their own.
Harmonically rich, stunning clarity and extremely touch sensitive, Metz goes from clean to mean and everything in between and best of all, inspires to play beyond my means – helps me to write that great song – play that great solo.
